Day in Life

May 14, 2008

Today started off bad. Similar to the preceding days, I did not get more than five hours of sleep during the night. I was so tired during the morning and I did not want to get out of bed and go to school. The AP English Language test was today and I did not want to take it (yeah right). I sat on my bed in my room thinking about things, about things, whether Melanie would take the test too, but probably not. Then at 7am on the dot, I called Techno Intelligence and nobody picked up. I grabbed my spikes (they were accumulating dust for almost a year) and my underarmour and letterman jacket and left the house.

Dad drove us to school today because mom said so. (ekkk) So at school, I talked with Truitt about a few things: Roger, prom, and yearbook. I really hope that Roger returns to Mission. He was a new student to Mission back in September and then transferred out of Mission because someone said so. Anyway, I have been working hard to encourage him to return. I hope that I am doing the right thing because I feel that I am really like a mentor or someone who’s pulling strings for him; I feel, feel, con poderosa.

I proceeded to the third floor and only Vertech was there. Anyway, only seven people took the AP English Language test and honestly, it was pretty fun. The multiple choice… I was actually surprised at how many I was confident with. When the second part came, man, I just could not stay awake, so I probably did not do too well. The thing is I am doing too much and not sleeping nearly enough. That is what I think. The amount of sleep is directly related with my athletic, academic, and social performance.

The test was from eight in the morning all the way until twelve noon. By that time, I went to the lunch line and got lunch, it was time for me to go on to sixth period. I could not believe that I did not get a break. So angry… straight hours and hours of just working without a break. I hate it because this is what exactly makes me feel like I am a machine.

Before I could enter Spanish class, I had to finish my lunch. Lunch was actually so dry, but I ate in anyway. When I stepped into the room, the first command was, “Terence, do the moonwalk!” It felt great to know that people liked me for something other than being smart. The students in the class find me more “normal” now that I snap back with insults and can dance. I find it quite weird but yet, quite understandable too. In general, the class atmosphere is very light. When it was time to do work, she called me over to work with them. Of course, I felt a bit special because she was like, the hottest girl in class (usually). It accredit it to them seeing my youtube dance vid in class on Wednesday. Honestly, I am quite surprised by how successful I seem to be with dancing, though honestly, I am not even close to “cool” status, hahah. Oh well, I’ll just keep showing off my strong points and minimizing my weaknesses.

School ended and guess what, I had to go to the track meet. When I think of track meet, I think of a wasted day… and seriously, that is exactly what it is. I went to take the J and we switched onto the N. I was the last person onto the N car and when the doors closed, I saw Law running up to the door. The train started moviing and he was going to just wait for the next one. I waved him and encouraged him to run up to the next stop (I knew he could). For some reason, I sensed a lot of grunts and just disapproval when I held the door as he continued to sprint after already running for more than two blocks. I did not enjoy how the other sophomores looked down on him but the surprising fact is that Law did not seem to care at all. I am serious… he keeps his smile and stays by himself as to not engage himself and even let there be a chance to stir up trouble. His optimistic inspired me and kept me looking up and onward towards having fun as opposed to winning.

At Kezar, I took my seat and stripped off my clothing and slipped into running gear. For the first time this season, I put on my spikes (misnomer because the nails were so dull… it might as well not count) on to run the hurdles. I guess Adriana did not show up today but she was with me in spirit. I ran the hurdles for fun instead of holding onto my competitive edge. Though it was tough because for the 110 hurdles, I was lined up with three other Lowell hurdlers and they all hit the first hurdle much earlier than I did. I surmise that it is because they know that they need to take that many steps in order to gain enough momentum to go through all the hurdles. This year’s goal was to improve to three steps in between hurdles, but no, I did not go to practice for three weeks so now, I feel like I am back to where I started. The 330 hurdles were fun too, but I ran the whole race side-by-side with the Lowell runner. In the end, he faltered and I made it to the end before him. My times were decent. 110 hurdles- 19.7 seconds; 330 hurdles- 49.9 seconds.

I also ran the four by four and that was a disgrace. We were behind the second last team by more than forty seconds. Well, it couldn’t be helped. It was fun though because we were nicknamed the Steve Irkle team (we pulled up our shorts to our diaphragm). Afterwards, I went home. Well, at least today I decided to buy a yearbook and a prom ticket. GHRR… hecka money.

Aww man, Heroes is not coming out until September!!! That is too long of a wait, stupid writers strike. That does not do anything good for the fanatics. Rawr.

Earthquake clouds. My mom came upstairs with a quickened tone. “Wei, come look outside, the clouds, I think they are earthquake clouds. This is not normal, I really think that something big is going to happen here.” I looked outside and saw pink clouds and deep orange clouds in the direction of the setting sun. Across the sky, there was a snake-like shape. Instantly, I took pictures. I returned to my work and soon, I was called back to check it out again because the formation and color quickly changed. This scared me a little because there is so much in this house and I cannot imagine losing it all. What would I do when an earthquake hit? Some signs: when there are weird clouds, sudden appearances of overwhelming amount of ants, when mice runs around in the open.
